Aarti Deshpande, CPO, MS
Aarti serves as the clinical manager of the UCSF Orthotic and Prosthetic Center at Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. She received her Bachelor of Science in orthotics and prosthetics from Mumbai University, completing her residency at the All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Mumbai in 2000. She then worked for Endolite, a prosthetic clinic specializing in lower extremity prostheses, where she grew the practice and served patients throughout the western region of India. An opportunity with the leading prosthetic and orthotic service provider in the country brought her to the U.S. when she accepted a position with Hanger Clinic in Ohio in 2006.
She has served as the clinical manager of UCSF O&P at ZSFG since May 2015 when she moved to California. Her primary goal is to provide optimal patient care through a facilitated rehabilitation process to improve and maximize the functional outcomes of patients. She is also interested in educating patients and other rehabilitation practitioners to familiarize them with the O&P profession. She plays an important role as a resident mentor at the University and volunteers with the American Board of Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics as a prosthetic examiner. She is also an active member of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists. She also serves on the Board of the U.S. member society of International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (USISPO).
Aarti is passionate about global clinical care for orthotics and prosthetics in underserved communities and countries.
